Discussions by the Lake - A Forum on Art & Activism
“Discussions by the Lake,” is an open panel sponsored by this year’s Harlem Fine Arts Show (HFAS). Join me and a group of distinguished panelist to discuss the many real social and economic issues that plague the African American Community Saturday, October 31 from 4 p.m.-6 p.m at Merchandise Mart.
The panel discussion, “Where do WE go from here?” will address the current condition of race relations, police brutality and the lack of wages facing multicultural communities across the country. Our goal is to question how the United States has handled these matters in the past and how we as a nation can move forward to promote healing. General Secretary of the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference (SDPC), Dr. Iva Carruthers will be our moderator this evening. Panelist include: Arlene Coleman, president of the Cook County Bar Association, Rev. Gregory Seal Livingston, president & CEO of The Coalition World (TCW), Chicago Sun Times reporter, Maudlyne Ihejirika, renowned artist, Raymond Thomas, and myself.
We already know our communities’ past. Together we can get a clearer idea of where we are going.
